SA: Scientists clear nuclear dump near military target range
The federal government says independent scientists have cleared the building of a nuclearwaste dump near a military target range in South Australia's outback.
Science Minister PETER McGAURAN says consultants have undertaken an extensive riskassessment and found the dump can be accommodated near a range where missiles are tested.
The preferred location is a 52-hectare site in the Commonwealth-managed Woomera Prohibited Area.
